Match types
The fencers and substitutes of a team are set once and for all at check-in. Each phase then chooses its match type:
| Type | Top | Bottom | Relay order |
|---|---|---|---|
| Everyone against everyone, 3 vs 3 | 1-2-3 | 4-5-6 | 3-6, 1-5, 2-4, 1-6, 3-4, 2-5, 1-4, 2-6, 3-5 |
| Everyone against everyone, 2 vs 2 | 1-2 | 3-4 | 1-4, 2-3, 1-3, 2-4 |
| Simple relay (one bout per fencer) | 1-3-5… | 2-4-6… | 1-2, 3-4, 5-6… |
The score is cumulative: relay n ends when a team reaches n × (points per relay), or at the end of the relay time. With 5-point relays and 3 vs 3, the match is fenced to 45 touches. A tie at the end is decided by the referee.
At the start of the match
Teams choose their order and give it to the referee: nothing is pre-filled. The referee sets which team is at the top and which at the bottom, then the fencer of each number.
Match sheets
- Blank, in any quantity, or those of the phase’s matches (team names);
- one at a time or by 3: one for each team and one for the referee;
- filled in as soon as the referee has entered the line-up on the phone: teams placed, fencers, cumulative scores, touches and each fencer’s balance.
Entry on the phone
With ManageComp Referee, the referee follows the relay order: “Relay 4/9: 1 against 6”, cumulative scores, relay timer, end of relay (at the score or on time). The result is sent at the end of the match.
